A community based learning platform for open data with tangible use cases, learning materials and support from people in your local area

Open source movement has been seen as one of the biggest driving force that can bring disruptive shift in the society. However, there is a big gap between this technogical development and people's understanding and their application.

openLOCAL is a community based learning platform for open data
with tangible use cases, learning materials and support from people in your local area

FutureEverything was very open to solutions that can foster open data movement by using their existing content and activities.
We started with desk research into existing cases and interviewing people who have already involved in open data and also people who don't know about it.

After capturing insights, we brainstormed ideas to tackle the existing problems based on insights that we found from research.
Then we narrowed down to a digital platform that shows tangible use cases for individuals and businesses.

After researching use cases, we needed to cluster them into categories that will be used in the platform.
We did card sorting to understand what interests people the most and how people process the content.

Collaborative Content Creation & UI Design

We created style board on Pinterest to be on the same page about how openLOCAL will look like.
We used Google Sheet to create content and UXpin to create high fidelity working prototype in a collaborative way.

Delivering The Outcome

We delivered openLOCAL to FutureEverything, and we got feedback from them and industry leaders from Ustwo, Sapien Nitro and Hyper Island.

Our team decided to move openLOCAL forward to make this happen. We are now discussing our future plan with FutureEverything and Open Data Institute about how this can be implemented. Please let us know through twitter if there is any opportunity or if you are interested to discuss with us about the idea.
